Literacy Council Student Samiya Mohamed Aces Citizenship Exam

Congratulations are in order for Literacy Council student Samiya Mohamed, who recently became a US citizen after preparing for the US citizenship exam with her tutor, Lori Depue. Lori and Samiya worked together diligently for over a year preparing for the US citizenship exam by meeting twice a week at the Literacy Council for tutoring sessions. Samiya, originally from Somalia, was initially inspired by her father and husband to pursue US citizenship. Literacy Council Group Launches First Group Class

The Literacy Council began group classes for beginner-level English students on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Literacy Council of Grand Island office. ​ Classes will be offered every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The classes are capped at 10 students, and students can speak with one of the Literacy Council staff members, or call 308-385-5515 for more information on how to sign up.
