Literacy Council Students Achieve U.S. Citizenship

The Literacy Council is elated to announce that during this winter time two of our students have successfully become American citizens!

Abdelatif Khater successfully passed the US Citizenship exam in December. Becoming a citizen was of particular importance to Abdelatif, who has not been able to travel to Sudan and visit his family since the age of 17.  Congratulations Abdelatif, we are so proud of you, and special thanks to his tutor Julie for helping him to achieve his goal!

Literacy Council student Gamar Hussein also recently passed his US Citizenship exam this March!  Gamar had been diligently studying at the Literacy Council and all of their hard work has paid off!  Congratulations Gamar, we are so proud of you, and special thanks to Marilyn for helping him to achieve his goal!
